We’re pleased to invite you to our double opening taking place this Tuesday, 5 November 2024, from 6pm unil 8pm, at eastcontemporary, via Giuseppe Pecchio 3 in Milan. 

We present “Soft Data”, a solo exhibition by Aziza Kadyri (1994), a London-based Uzbek visual artist exploring the interplay between culture and technology. Through the use of sculpture, video, artifical intelligence and textiles, Kadyri also explores themes dedicated to social invisibility, decolonization, displacement and identity formation. In particular, she examines societal dynamics and experiences of women living within Central Asia and its diaspora. Kadyri, together with female collective Qizlar, represents Uzbekistan at this year’s 60th Venice Biennale.

In addition, in collaboration with Catinca Tabacaru Gallery from Bucharest, the same evening we inaugurate a solo exhibition of Marta Mattioli (1998), an Italian-Romanian visual artist whose work reflects on the concept of organic-digital hybridization.

 

This is the first collaboration between two galleries within a larger project that eastcontemporary intends to carry out over the next year, inviting other international galleries with their respective artists to Milan.
